Quarantine rules change due to Omicron

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated the government had extended the quarantine duration of international travelers from 3 x 24 hours to an extended 7 x 24 days. Included in the newest changes in travel restrictions, are stricter regulations for travelers coming from Omicron (new SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529) confirmed countries: South Afrika, Botswana, Hong Kong, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho.

The circular letter by the Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force number 23, takes effect immediately on 29th November 2021 : 

The highlights: 

1. Indonesia immigration office will deny the entry of passengers who stayed or visited countries with confirmed high number of transmissions of Omicron variant as well as the countries which are geographically closed from above mentioned.

2. Indonesia immigration office is temporarily stopping the visa applications from countries with confirmed transmission of Omicron variant as well as the countries which are geographically closed from above mentioned.

3. The following quarantine procedure takes effect on 29 November 2021:

a. 7 X 24 hours quarantine for International travelers and Indonesian citizens who never stayed or visited countries with confirmed transmission of new covid variant Omicron (from above mentioned countries). First PCR test to be taken on the arrival day and Second PCR test on the 6th day.

b. 14 X 24 hours quarantine for Indonesian citizen who stayed or visited the countries with confirmed transmission of new Covid variant Omicron (from above mentioned countries). First PCR test to be taken on the arrival day and Second PCR test on 13th day.

4. All travelers whether by land, sea or air shall adhere to strict travel procedures which include a ban on any phone calls throughout the duration of the journey on public transport, as well as food/drink consumption forshort distance travels under 2 hours.
