As of 5th April 2021, the Directorate General of Immigration announced its third phase of border reopening regulations, which now relaxes and allows visa applications to the following types of applicants:

1. New working expatriates & their dependents.

2. Dependents of Indonesian citizens

3. Business travelers

4. Retirees

To apply for Immigration permits to enter Indonesian borders, the applicant should fulfill the set requirements, including a readiness to be quarantined for a minimum of 5 days at a pre-booked quarantine facility, and be able to show negative PCR results that are not older than 3 x 24 hours upon landing.

Indonesian Immigration is trialing the controversial GeNose (a COVID-19 detection tool) for domestic travelers at airports, sea ports and train stations. It is not yet clear if the GeNose testing is a reliable form of testing for international travelers, and if it will be implemented in future.
